Our congregation was born from a small group of local people in the greater Bloomington-Normal area who sought a local Christian Community where we could worship and fellowship together in communion with the Church established in the New Testament. Nearly half of our community has come to Orthodoxy from other faith traditions, and the remaining members are from Orthodox communities in the U.S. and abroad.
Throughout the year, in addition to our regular services, we set aside additional time to spend together as a community. We celebrate the Feast Day of Holy Apostles with a cookout in the summer, during the Lenten season we gather and deliver food to local food pantries and we organize outings to various local and regional events.
Please visit Holy Apostles’ Hall of Doors Orthodox Library, located in the Parish house, where members and visitors alike will find wonderful books to read and check out. Each month, our community recommends a book to read and we encourage all to borrow books so we may continue to learn and grow in our faith. We also have brochures and pamphlets that can be taken and kept for reference. Donations of Orthodox books are always welcomed, please contact or visit us for more information.
